Where we deliver

Bulk deliveries have a 2 yard minimum, and one truck carries up to 6 yards. Outside these towns? Call either store — we may still be able to help.

When to choose planting mix

Building a new flower or vegetable bed, filling raised beds, or topping up large planters. It’s ready to plant into the day it arrives, with the structure of loam and the richness of compost already blended.

How much for raised beds

A 4 by 8 foot raised bed 10 inches deep takes about 1 yard; a 4 by 12 foot bed the same depth takes about 1.5 yards. Fill beds a little above the rim — the mix settles an inch or two after watering.

Frequently asked questions

Is planting mix good for vegetables?

Yes — it’s the easiest start for vegetable beds. Top-dress with 1 to 2 inches of compost each spring after the first year.

Can I use planting mix in containers?

For large planters and half barrels, yes. For pots under about 12 inches, a bagged potting soil drains better.

How is it different from loam?

Loam is plain topsoil for lawns and grading; planting mix has compost blended in for growing flowers and vegetables.

Do I need to add fertilizer?

Not the first season for most plants; feed heavy feeders like tomatoes lightly midsummer.
