Switch Grass ‘Gunsmoke’

Panicum virgatum ‘Gunsmoke’ is a native switch grass for zones 4-9 that thrives in full sun with minimal watering requirements. Bluish-green steel-toned foliage forms a sturdy upright clump that resists flopping. As autumn approaches, the entire plant transforms into shades of crimson and burgundy, providing exceptional fall color. Delicate pink-tinged seed heads appear in late summer and persist through winter, offering food for birds and visual interest when covered with frost or snow.
