About this plant

Dryopteris remota is an elegant wood fern that performs best in full to part shade with medium moisture and well-drained soil. The distinctive overlapping leaflets and slender pinnae create a refined, layered texture, while the shaggy brown scales along the stipe add visual interest. This semi-evergreen fern offers a unique architectural quality for Cape Elizabeth shade gardens. Slower growing than some wood ferns but valued by collectors for its graceful form.
